We’ve produced circus and street theatre for Bristol Harbour Festival for 16 years and this year we’re delighted to be celebrating our own 20th birthday! Join us at the Circus Playground in Queen Square, which we’ve packed with a full programme of performance from 11am to 6pm, surrounded by a host of activities and installations for children and their families to enjoy.
To celebrate our 20th anniversary we’ll be presenting two incredible aerial performances; the bewitching and beautiful ‘Harmonic’, a unique collaboration between cellist and aerialist created last year for Kew Gardens, and a brand-new doubles trapeze performance by two artists from our partnership project with Diverse City, Extraordinary Bodies.
Alongside this, Above and Beyond will be flying high with their ‘petit volant’ flying aerial rig, there’ll be laughs galore at the Street Theatre zone with the likes of internationally acclaimed clown Fraser Hooper, and you can learn from some of the best in the business at one of Circomedia’s circus and aerial workshops (there’s even a chance to have a go on the aerial rig yourself!).
We’re proud to fill our programme with local performers and this year our programme is made up of over 90% Bristol artists, from emerging artists training in the city to international superstars returning to grace our stage.
The Circus Stage will be BSL interpreted on both days.
