We’re celebrating 25 years of Cirque Bijou.  Each month we are looking back on some of our favourite projects of the last quarter century.

For June, we have chosen Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Driver’s Ball

In collaboration with Starlight Design and their celebrated firework designer, Michael Lakin, we’ve been creating large-scale shows for the Driver’s Ball for the past 15 years.

Technology, thrill, high-energy and of course speed are the main criteria for these shows, which makes them lots of fun to brainstorm and bring to life.

Our past shows have combined rock and roll stars with supercars, motorbikes, circus, crane shows and even a flying jet pack man.

Many of our shows for Goodwood Festival of Speed’s Driver’s Ball have also included some very detailed video mapping – transforming the performance area into an urban playground, Mayan temple and outer space!

With yearly repeating jobs like this, it can be a challenge to come up with something the client hasn’t seen before. It’s a challenge we revel in!  Finding fresh new artists to work with, exploring the latest technology, experimenting with crazy new ideas… these are all parts of the job that we love.

One aspect of the show that will always remain a fixture however, is Michael Lakin’s fireworks.  We’re not exaggerating when we say these are the biggest and best firework displays we have ever seen.

We will be returning to Goodwood for this year’s Festival next month.
