This month we begin the next practical phase of our Kitchen Circus Project, an ongoing and special partnership with Travelling Light Theatre Company and Knowle West Media Centre. We have lined up three exciting local artists to work with a family living in each of our Bristol neighbourhoods; Megan Vaughan-Thomas, a physical theatre artist, Mike Akers, a storyteller, and Megan Clark-Bagnall, a visual art maker.

I’m so excited to meet my family inside their castle…and explore together what home and nesting means to us all. What are the crown jewels within their home? I’m looking forward to listening and sharing with the groups.’ Megan Clark-Bagnall

Within the current lockdown, we will be enabling artists and families to explore their thoughts, stories, and connections with the place they call home. Navigating creative ways to be together while physically apart. This involves tapping into the skills, ideas, and specialities of each company, artist and family, and sharing this knowledge amongst us. We can’t wait to see the creativity and connections grow.

Helping us bring everyone and everything together will be Tim Kindberg and Lily Green with their platform Grapevine, and Leeza Awojobi, a wonderful poet. We’ll have more to tell you about their involvement as the project unfolds.

Kitchen Circus is supported by funding from Arts Council England and Bristol City Council.
