A theme was chosen for each carnival and then a menu of workshops were offered to local schools, community groups and youth organisations. It included mask making, carnival costume creation, stilt walking, street performance, street music, dance, and large puppet structures. Workshops were chosen which were then organised and managed by Cirque Bijou and led to a performance by all groups on the day of the carnival.

Over 1000 people have taken part in the four carnival parades since 2000. 2005’s parade and workshop programme is already underway, with the parade taking place on the 16th July.
