Step Up 2011

Are you ready to step up and create new and exciting performances for outdoor events and festivals?

Are you aged 14 to 25 and live or work in Bristol, Somerset or Dorset?

If the answer is yes, write a short description of your idea (no more than 250 words) with a budget and send it to us by Wednesday 1st June. You can include pictures and videos to support your ideas.

If chosen you will be given up to £1500 to create a short outdoor show that might include circus, dance, street theatre, digital arts, music, extreme or urban sports. We are open to other ideas!  The chosen projects can be created by individuals or groups.

Preference will be given to ideas that show innovation and a mix of art forms and skills.  All creative work will be considered apart from screen-based work.

Artists will also receive additional money for artistic development of the idea, contacts with professional artists to help you to develop your project, business support, production support, and mentoring.

As part of the process all artists will also be mentored through the silver arts award qualification process and if completed will receive accreditation and certificates, which will give you a nationally recognised level 2 qualification. - For more information go to arts award

The performance needs to be able to be shown outdoors either on a stage, on grass or on the street at up to three festivals events across Dorset, Bristol and Somerset. To see a film about last year’s programme go to Step Up 2010.
