Great news for Cirque Bijou! 17/07/08 Cirque Bijou are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our recent Grants for the Arts application to the Arts Council. The money will allow Cirque Bijou to continue to create groundbreaking productions for national and international audiences that challenge current perceptions of contemporary circus through investment in the development of new work and the professional development of our two Artistic Directors, Billy and Julian. The grant will help the company to go through an intensive period of exploration, innovation and research and development in 2008 and 2009 and will enable us to collaborate with nationally renowned partners from theatre, dance, digital arts and sport, particularly on two upcoming projects, Tightrope and Project 360. Tightrope is a circus theatre production in collaboration with Greenwich and Lewisham Young People's Theatre Company and Theatre Is and working with students from Circomedia's Circus BTEC course. Tightrope development days held earlier this year Project 360 is a large scale outdoor performance production being developed in partnership with Bristol City Council, extreme sports practitioners, digital artists, parkour exponents and circus artists. It will be performed as part of the UK Schools Games in August 2008. Project 360 The award will also allow Cirque Bijou to build on our marketing and audience development work and also our production, design and stage management collaboration with Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. This is a very exciting time for Cirque Bijou and we would like to thank the Arts Council for their support.
