The National Theatre's Fresh Faces 2007 programme has linked up with Bristol City Council and Cirque Bijou's Harbour Festival Awards scheme, to develop circus and street performance in Bristol and London. The scheme provides commissioning funds for new show creation, allowing emerging and established performers to develop and showcase new work in Bristol at the EDF Energy Harbour Festival – July 28 and 29 and at the National Theatre's Watch This Space Festival on the 8th and 9th August. This partnership further extends both schemes, enabling recipients to perform in London and Bristol.
Five new companies have been chosen from artists at London's Circus Space and Bristol's Circomedia as part of the Fresh Faces showcase and are working with some of the UK's top street arts directors including John Paul Zaccarini, to create new work for the street. Fresh Faces artists appearing on the street at the Harbour Festival this year include, Jane Brummitt, Gonzalo Fernandez, Revital Gottshalk, and Matt Pang. Paddy Waters will be appearing on the Millennium Square stage.
Cirque Bijou are proud to be presenting two hour long cabaret performances at Watch This Space on the 1st of September. Check out our news article for more information.
