Booker Prize for Excellence Award Ceremony for Sounds Commercial - 2005



To create a world class circus cabaret for the Booker foods awards ceremony. The client had 14 awards and wanted 14 unique acts. They also wanted exciting acts to meet guests outside and to entertain during the VIP and award winners receptions.

The first step of the process for Cirque Bijou was to find 14 acts which were original and exciting, to keep interest over the lengthy award ceremony period. We also had to take into consideration what specialist acts and effects the venue would allow. Lastly, we had to take into consideration the stage management of the event to ensure that it would move at a pace that would keep everyone entertained throughout.


The guests were greeted by an aerialist performing underneath a 7m helium balloon reaching heights of 15m. As they entered the venue, angels swooped down from the ceiling sprinkling the guests with glitter. As the guests entered the dining room the ceremony opened with aerialists tumbling down silks accompanied by stage pyrotechnic effects.

After dinner the cabaret started and the multiple acts were all very well received. The flying trapeze act, the Melt show and the pyrotechnic centrepieces that were installed on each of the 52 tables were certainly some of the highlights.
